First Issue on Applied Ethics

Ethos. International Journal of Applied Ethics is pleased to announce this first issue focused on a four relevant disciplines derivates from Applied Ethics: Business Ethics, Bioethics, Ethics of professions and Mass Media Ethics. The main objective of the journal is to create a critic mass in which it can be possible to find the complexity of contemporary ethics. Furthermore, the journal will focus the emphasy in the public debate that this topics cause.

Selected Themes

In this first issue will address the following issues and topics:

Theoretical and conceptual approach to ground of applied ethics.

Empirical research demostrating the impact of the applied ethics on the global or local level.

Case study analyses exploring the different faces of bioethics, Busines Ethics, Mass Media Ethics and Ethics of organizations.

Abstract (300 words): December 14, 2009

Notification of the Selected Paper Proposals: December 21, 2010

First draft of the papers: March 1, 2010

Comments on the first draft returned to the authors: March 15, 2010

Revised draft due: April 15, 2010

Publication date: June 2010

The Ethos Chair is a Chair of Applied Ethics an the University Ramon Llull of Barcelona. Ours is a federal University integrated with centers like ESADE, IQS, Blanquerna or The Philosophy Faculty of Catalonia, all of them are important centers in their specialty at a private level.

We coordinate all of the ethics research groups that integrate our university, furthermore we carry out a lot of consultancy for companies like Gas Natural, AGBAR, Ernst and Young or Abertis. This consultancy includes courses of training or elaboration of ethical codes.

As a academic Chair our main lines are the ethics of  organizations, The ethics of  professions, Corporate Social Responsibility, The educational strategies for the divulging of ethical knowledge.
